Topics chosen for in-class discussion (not lecture) in CC 500A are chosen for their clinical relevance, and their ability to illustrate the application of basic science knowledge recently addressed in HSF lectures to the clinical care of patients. The assigned discussions in CC 500A present clinical material of direct relevance to recent HSF lectures, in a discussion format. This is achieved by sequencing lectures so that a single organ system is viewed from five disciplines (anatomy, biochemistry, embryology, histology and physiology) in the same time frame. The primary objective of Human Structure Function III (HSF-III) is to provide students with an integrated understanding of the structure and function of the human urinary and reproductive systems. HSF-I and HSF-II are essential prerequisites for Human Structure Function III. Human Structure Function III will address the urinary and reproductive systems that depend upon the foundations established in HSF-I and HSF-II. This type of organization provides the student with an integrated comprehension of the body. Anatomical, histological, embryological, physiological and biochemical aspects of individual organ systems are presented concurrently with a separate clinical correlation course.
